My Friends Are Better Than Yours Featuring Chi Ali
BIG CED of The Industry Cosign talks to The Fabulous Chi Ali, who is the youngest member of the Native Tongues (De La Soul, A Tribe Called Quest, Jungle Brothers, Black Sheep). Chi Ali has just started his own non-profit organization named Choices Have Impact. We talk about the reason he started it and how he has been keeping his life on the right path.
Choices Have Impact is a gun violence prevention organization that focuses on building productive members of society by leading healthy lifestyles that are rooted in knowledge of self, discipline, and personal development. The organization believes that the union of man, woman, and child is the highest form of love community. The focus is on nurturing families and teaching success by providing resources and tools to make impactful decisions.
As some may know, Chi was 16 when his first and only album was released and after climbing the Billboard charts in the early 90s, his rise to stardom came to a halt when one poor decision in 2000 changed the next 12 years of his life. A manhunt that went on for over a year featured Chi Ali on the hit TV show “America’s Most Wanted” which inevitably lead to his capture in 2001.
Chi Ali was released in August 2012. He left with an Associate’s Degree in Behavioral Sciences and his personal experiences within a system that is detrimental to the lives of millions of families in one of the wealthiest nations. Chi Ali vowed to himself to be a part of the solution to these communities.
Chi Ali looks forward to impacting & uplifting people by sharing his story, experiences, life lessons, and knowledge by speaking around the country. He is currently an activist for prison reform, a mentor, and a motivational speaker.
Several years ago, he became an author when he penned the book, “Another Kind of Freedom”
