French Montana Receives Recognition for Raising $226 Million For Uganda Healthcare and Education
Bronx, NY-raised Hip-Hop artist, French Montana was recently given an award for his fundraising efforts to help people in Africa.
According to Complex, the No Stylist rapper was honored last week when he accepted the Innovator Award at the 2022 Pencils Of Promise Gala on Oct. 20. The recording artist was recognized for his efforts in raising money to help people in Uganda.
Montana was responsible for helping to raise a total of $226 million. He raised the funds to contribute to healthcare and education in Uganda. The artist, who is originally from Morrocco has also given support to the Budondo Suubi “Hope” Health Center. It’s the source of healthcare for new and pregnant women as well as their newborn babies.

Montana recently became an RIAA-certified diamond artist. He posted the acknowledgment on his Instagram account. He became the first recording artist who was born in Africa to receive recognition for selling 10 million units. He also became the first male artist from the mecca of Hip-Hop, the South Bronx to obtain a diamond plaque.
At the ceremony where Montana won his award, the daughter of Fast and Furious actor, Paul Walker, Meadow Walker was also honored. She received the Activist Award for her achievements as PoP’s Global Ambassador. Board members of Pencils Of Promise, Ricky and Lisa Novak were also presented with the Philanthropist Award, and Brittny and Eric Knight received the Vanguard Award.
