April 23, 2019 (New York, NY)—ESSENCE’s 49th anniversary May issue features an exclusive interview with Sean “Diddy” Combs with his children: Quincy, Justin, Christian, Chance, D’Lila and Jessie. In the cover story, Family Over Everything, the media mogul sat with filmmaker dream hampton for a heartfelt chat about life since the untimely passing of his soul mate Kim Porter. Through their share of grief and growing pains, the self-proclaimed bad boy for life has had to learn that his loved ones come first—and he wouldn’t have it any other way. The beautiful package also features Combs with his mother, Janice Combs.

In the piece, Combs talks about the outpouring of love after Porter’s sudden death last fall, the comfort found in his children, the challenges of parenting without a partner and the lessons she taught him.
